Undertaking our Spiritual Journey strengthened by the Divine Power of the Bread from Heaven.

Beloved, to undertake a long journey as Elijah did, in our First Reading (1Kgs 19:4-8), we need food and drink.  Elijah triumphed over the prophets of Baal, defeated their false cultural and religious worldview being propagated in the people (cf. 1kgs 18:21) and reoriented the people to the worship of the Living God. The people’s eyes were …

Sharing Our Gifts in the Spirit of Christ.

“Sharing our Gifts in the Spirit of Christ.”  Beloved, God has gifted us in different ways (cf. 1Cor 12:8-11; 1Pet 4:10-11) and called us to share with others.  Please, this is not socialism; it is FAITH IN ACTION (cf. Matt 6:10). Christ never advocated for any worldly system of government: capitalism, feudalism, socialism or communism; He simply …

Practicing Forgiveness and Reconciliation In The Spirit Of Christian Poverty

“Practicing Forgiveness and Reconciliation in the spirit of Christian poverty.”  Beloved, Christ exemplified poverty in spirit (cf. Matt. 3:20; 2Cor 8:9) and commended it to us in the Beatitudes (cf. Matt 5:3).  It is about being humble and self-effacing, not clinging to one’s personal opinion, or political or cultural posturing, but yielding to God in all things …

“The Assumption – Ultimate Victory for those who belong to Christ.”

“The Assumption – Ultimate Victory for those who belong to Christ.”  Beloved, the Assumption celebrates that Mary was taken body and soul into heaven after her physical death.  Concerning Jesus, we speak of the ASCENSION; but for Mary, we speak of the ASSUMPTION.  This is the final victory of God’s Promise, putting PERPETUAL ENMITY between the Devil and …

Homily - “You too go into my vineyard.”

“You too go into my vineyard.”

“You too go into my vineyard.”  Beloved, according to St. Pope John Paul II, “The vineyard is the whole world (cf. Mt 13:38), which is to be transformed according to the plan of God in view of the final coming of the Kingdom of God” (Apostolic Exhortation, Christifideles laici, 1).  For him, “The call is a concern not only of …

The place of God’s Law in our Lenten Discipline

how many times have we heard some of our Christian brothers and sisters saying we do not need the Law in order to be saved; that we are saved only by grace or faith?  Let us ask: Is the Law really irrelevant in our Christian lives and for salvation?  The First Reading (Deut 4:1, 5-9) says, “Absolutely …

“Christ – the Answer to all our longing for Fulfillment in life.”

We celebrate the Memorial of St. Scholastica, Virgin, and share this message, “Called to a deeper Consecration to God in purity of heart.”  Beloved, St. Scholastica lived in the 5th and 6th century life of the Church.  She was the twin sister of St. Benedict, Abbot and founder of the Order of St. Benedict (the Benedictines); while Scholastica …

Homily - “You too go into my vineyard.”

“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Beloved, Christ is inviting us to receive salvation.  This is the time of fulfilment; the providential time of mercy and the Lord’s favor (cf. Isa 49:8; 2Cor 6:2; Luke 4:18-19); the time for “the manifestation and the realization of God’s plan of salvation in all its fullness” (St. John Paul II, Redemptoris Missio, 15).  Thus, we should not …
